Pongal made from broken wheat

Broken wheat is obtained by milling wheat grains coarsely. As it does not go for refining, this is highly nutritious. We can find different sizes of broken wheat in the store. Large size broken wheat can be cooked and had instead of rice. And the smaller ones can be used for upma, kheer, porridge, etc.

Puli Pongal / Tamarind Based Pongal

Puli Pongal

Puli pongal is a traditional Breakfast prepared in Tamilnadu. Pongal means mashed up rice. This is a pongal made with tamarind and broken rice with some seasonings. This is a tangy and tasty dish which can be prepared very easily. Puli pongal tastes best with coconut chutney or daangar pachadi.
