Generally we make different type of sambar at home. In this  kadamba sambar we add mixed vegetables and make. This is one of the sambar prepared during festivals. This sambar goes well with Ven Pongal, Idly or Dosa.

We use brinjals to make different dishes. Brinjal rasavangi is a traditional dish of Tamilnadu. My mother used to make this often. Rasavangi is a dish which is in between kootu and sambar. Rasavangi goes well with rice and dosa.

Hotel Sambar

Two weeks back I tried this sambar which tastes like hotel sambar at home. It came out very well. Here we add roasted gram. Because of this, the taste itself changes like hotel sambar. In hotels they add yellow pumpkin also while cooking the dhal and mash it. This gives thicker sambar.

Bitter gourd is a healthy vegetable which is good for diabetic people. When it is combined with toor dhal it is very tasty. The taste of ground spices, tangy tamarind and sweet jaggery compensates for the bitterness of the gourd. Today I am posting Pavakkai pitlai which my mother used to make.
