Dry Neem Flower (Veppam Poo) Rasam

Ingredients
- Tamarind – small lemon sized
- Asafoetia – a pinch
- Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp.
- Salt – as needed or 1 tsp.
- Coriander Leaves – a handful
For Grinding:
- Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp.
- Black Pepper – 1 tsp.
- Garlic – 4 cloves
- Tomato – 1
For Seasoning:
- Ghee – 1 tsp.
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp.
- Red Chillies – 1 broken into two
- Dry Neem Flowers – 1 tbsp.
Instructions
- Soak tamarind in hot water and extract juice and keep aside.
- Grind the ingredients given for grinding to a coarse paste.
- In a pan add the tamarind juice and two cups of water.
- Add the ground paste, salt, turmeric powder and asafoetida and boil.
- When it starts to boil, switch off the stove.
- In a pan, heat ghee and add mustard seeds.
- When it splutters, add red chillies and neem flowers and fry for half a minute.
- Pour this over hot rasam.
