We all live in an environment that urges us to hurry. It is understood that we all are burdened with a lot of things that we need to accomplish in a short period of time, but we land up reaching nowhere.
Our day in day out routines of our life can very easily drain us, both physically and mentally. If we’re not careful and don’t take the time to focus on self and try rebuilding and renewing who we actually are, we’ll quickly enter a shell from where we will never be able to come out. So rather than letting life get the best of us why not get the best out of our life.
Being observed on the fourth Thursday of July, every year, National Refreshment Day , reminds us of the need of refreshment from our daily hectic lifestyle. We all need to detoxify ourselves of the stress and mental agony we go through daily. As we all are different individuals, we all have different ways and means to refresh. Hence, we should devise our own ways to get rejuvenated and recharged for a new episode.

Refreshment is a broad term. It is something that can be related to our habits, our food, our mood or anything that we can all be associated with. Finding out time to care for our body and mind is essential in preventing entering the shell. If we fail in taking care of ourselves that we all deserve, we will always be feeling tired, stressed and edgy. By adopting a healthier lifestyle and knowing the ways to pamper our own selves, we can always stay refreshed and rejuvenated.
Here are some vital ways by which you can refresh in a jiffy:
- Eat healthy and mindfully
Whole grains, healthy fats and lean proteins help you provides with all the vital nutrients the body needs to rejuvenate. Eating wrong can further have negative impulse on the brain and the body. It can lead to damage and hamper your mood and memory. Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and folic acid helps promoting brain health. Consume as much as calories that the body can burn. The daily requirement of calories depends upon your age, weight, gender and the level of physical activity you are involved with.
- Get some exercise
Exercise helps reorganize your brain and makes it more prepared for any sort of stress. It also helps improving your memory, thinking abilities and less burnt out duet to daily chores. Moreover, exercise helps building lean muscle mass and remove fats from the body.
- Drink a glass of water
One of the main reasons why we feel fatigued and stressed out, is because we are dehydrated. Dehydration slows down brain functionality and makes us stay less focused and stressed out. Immediately drink a glass of water. It will help you perk up as water does to a dying plant. Make drinking water interesting by adding some lemon slices or mint.
- Take a quick nap
A quick nap in the middle of a tiring day can help improve alertness and your performance. It refreshed the mind and boost alertness. It helps reinstate your creative abilities. But, at the same time you must make sure that you don’t fall asleep. If you are getting regular symptoms of sleepiness or fatigue the best is getting a good night sleep.
- Take a brisk walk outside
The combination of a walk along with fresh air helps stimulating blood flow in the brain and can further help rebuilt focus and brain clarity. When you regularly sit and work long hours, the body gets into the rest mode. Getting some movement helps your body wake up and regenerate energy levels. The body will produce more energy and help you stay active and alert.
- Splash some cold water on your face
It’s not a fluke. Slashing some cold water on the face can be more effective in refreshing your senses than a cup of coffee. Whenever you feel lazy and laid back, get to splash some cold water on your face and you would be ready to go again.
- Try some aromatherapy
Healing of our mind and body is what we all need when we are down and lack energy. Aromatherapy is one of the best ways to get back on track in a jiffy. Essential aroma oils help giving us a quick boost in our energy levels. Put some essential aroma oil like lavender or basil on a cotton ball and just inhale and you will be ready again.
- Fat feed your brain
More than 50% of our brain is fat and it is this fat that provides insulation to all the brain cells. The theory is that the better is the insulation the better we can think and act. Quickly grab some healthy fats like avocados for more brain productivity and energy. Dark leafy green vegetables, fatty fishes and anchovy are few more healthy fats for our fatty brain.
Refreshing helps in detoxifying our accumulated stress and enhances our body physically and mentally. It teaches us to be calm, composed and have a clear state of mind. It makes us energetic. It makes us rejuvenated and reinstate our lost vigor and vitality.
