It is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine for treating numerous health disorders including rheumatism, worm, conjunctivitis and piles. Kollu is beneficial for extracting phlegm. They are believed to be helpful for keeping the body warm during winter. Horse gram also helps to control fever.

Ingredients
- Kollu or Horse Gram - ½ cup
- Garlic - 6 flakes
- Small onions - 6
- Tomato - 1
- Green Chillies - 3 or 4
- Red chilly - 1
- Salt - as needed
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
- Ured dhal - ½ tsp.
- Oil - 2 tsps.
- Curry leaves - a few
Instructions
- Clean and soak horse gram in water for 8 hours or dry roast the horse gram and soak for 1 hour.
- Pressure cook horse gram and strain the water. You can use this water to make Kollu Rasam.
- Take the horse gram, small onions, tomato and garlic in a mixie and grind to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and temper mustard seeds and ured dhal and add red chillies and curry leaves and add this to the prepared chutney.
