Chilli Paneer is one of the best recipes I make in a restaurant style. This is a favourite dish of my son. I make it quite often at home. Paneer coated in batter, deep fried and sauted with bell peppers and sauces make the dish very tasty. I am posting a dry version of chilli paneer. This is goes best with fried rice.

Cottage Cheese (Paneer) | – 200 g. |
Plain Flour / Maida | – 2 tbsp. |
Corn Flour | – 1 tbsp. |
Red Chilli Powder | – ½ tsp. |
Pepper Powder | – ½ tsp. |
Ginger Garlic Paste | – 1 tbsp. |
Salt | – ¼ tsp. |
Water | – as needed |
Other Ingredients: |

Oil | – 2 tbsp. |
Cumin Seeds | – 1 tsp. |
Green Chilli | – 3 |
Garlic | – 6 Cloves |
Ginger | – 1 inch piece |
Onion | – 1 |
Capsicum | – 1 big |
Chilli Powder | – 1 tsp. |
Pepper Powder | – ½ tsp. |
Salt | – as needed |
Tomato Sauce | – 1 tbsp. |
Green chillli Sauce | – 1 tsp. |
Soya Sauce | – 1 tbsp. |
Lemon Juice | – 1 tsp. |
Method:
- Cut the paneer into one inch cubes.
- In a bowl, add maida, corn flour, ginger garlic paste, pepper powder, chilli powder and salt as needed.
- Add little water and make a thick batter. The batter should be thick so that it will coat the paneer.
- Mix the paneer cubes in the batter and let it marinate for 15 – 20 minutes.
- Cut the onions and bell peppers to medium size.
- Slice the green chillies, chop the garlic to thin round slices and finely cut the ginger.
- Heat a pan and add oil and deep fry he paneer. Do not add more and crowd the pan.
- Turn the paneer on all sides and see that it is cooked and browned evenly. Transfer to plate and keep it aside.
- In a pan, add a tablespoon oil and add cumin seeds.
- Then add the garlic and green chillies.
- Now add the onions and sauté for a minute. Now add the bell peppers and sauté them.
- Lower the flame and add salt, pepper, chilli powder, tomato sauce, chilli sauce, soya sauce and mix well. Do not overcook the peppers. Maintain the crunchiness.
- Add the fried paneer cubes and mix well so that the sauces are coated well. Increase the flame and and sauté for a minute and turn off the flame.
- Squeeze the lemon juice.
- Restaurant style chilli paneer is ready to serve.
