Kovaikkai (Ivy Gourd) Curry with Masala Powder

Ingredients
- Kovaikkai / Ivy Gourd – ¼ Kg. cut into long pieces
- Salt – as needed
- Oil – 1 tsp.
- Mustard – 1 tsp.
- Ured dhal – 1 tsp.
For Masala Powder:
- Oil – 1 tsp.
- Red chillies – 5 broken
- Dhania coriander seeds – 2 tsps.
- Gram dhal / Channa dhal – 2 tsps.
Instructions
- In a pan fry the ingredients for the masala powder till golden brown.
- When it cools, grind it to a fine powder in a mixie.
- In another pan splutter mustard and ured dhal in oil.
- Put the kovaikkai and salt and add one cup of water and cook closed till it cooks well with-out any water.
- Now add the ground masala and mix well and switch off the stove.
- Kovaikkai masala curry is ready to serve.
